"History repeats itself, the war will soon begin"
End of fantasy

Ready (alternative default)
There won't be a return of easier times.
There won't be a time without cars, without television or without widespread mobility.
There will only be times of shortages, of temporary inavailability, which can last from days to years, but they won't last forever.
Also there won't be a return of labor done through human hands instead of machines.
Humans dreamed of it already centuries ago and all it went was further, not back.
Inventions mankind once has made and popularized - they won't vanish, they will only be replaced with other higher inventions.
There will only be new inventions coming to hit the everyday life, things they don't know, things that kids will be excited about and the next generation won't know how to live without.

Hm... I don't believe in such a scenario, but as far as experience goes, stupidity of mankind is infinite. They get everything done.
It only doesn't look very likely from the point of now.

as you correctly said "They get everything done."

so - given enough time... let's just be patient :)

I like the story one way or another. He's a good writer (to my taste). Somewhat sentimental, but within limits.

Given enough time, there's anything to come out.
Maybe I'll be mistaken. It's only - taking a look at history, humans often wished back to things as they were and it never succeeded. Why should it just now be different?
28th-Aug-2014 02:44 pm (UTC)
I've never said it's going to be different now.

I didn't even touch the subject of people wishing things to be as they were (though I agree with you, they do - sometimes).

I meant that in reference to the text above, asking why should it go back to different times when it never had before as people also already wished for that.
28th-Aug-2014 03:21 pm (UTC)
sure, with that I agree.

It sounds optimistically but not realistically.
these times will not last forever but long enough to vanish civilization in some places, and critically reduce quantity of skilled humans.

It was not meant as optimism. The understanding more is going back is the hope that humans bear within. But the hope is in vain, since mankind, at all times, worked on getting farer than they've already come. It's not like you belong to the first generation who wished back to less technological times - so that should give the hint how it is with hopes right now.
Don't rely on hopes getting fulfilled.
